In early 2013 I had lunch with a former colleague who was planning a trip to Spain. As she spoke about their anticipated adventure she was planting a seed in my head - the conditions must have been perfect because the seed took root immediately. We knew from our previous travels that it was the walking and the countryside that we loved most - so how fun to plan a trip around just that! When Corine and John returned from their camino we were even further inspired.
Then when Air Transat posted a seat sale for a one way ticket from Calgary to Paris for $285.00 pp we took that to be a sign! So on September 22, 2013 we have tickets to fly to Paris as we begin our Camino de Santiago.
The Camino (Spanish for walk) de Santiago (the French way) is a journey that begins in the southwest of France in St.Jean and ends 800 kilometres later in the northwest of Spain in Santiago. In the map below we are following the yellow dots. There are 250 villages along the way!
