YYC>CDG

Today was a beautiful fall day, warm with an azure blue sky so characteristic of September.  After pulling out the last of the potted plants on the deck (seems such a shame when our season is so very short) we headed to the golf course for the last round of 2013.  It was a fun afternoon and lots of well wishes and even Bon voyage shooters!

We said good bye to our sweet Maxine puppy as she headed off to her vacation home down the street .  I had been telling her all week about how she loves us best, she sure knew something was going on.  Whenever the backpacks were out she stayed right by my feet.  I am extremely grateful to the Maetche's for caring for her while we are away .

Around 6 pm we packed ourselves into Doug's new truck and headed south.

We stopped at Airdrie for a quick supper and arrived at the airport in plenty of time.  We were lucky enough to be able to take our packs as carry on baggage so we had nothing to check.  That is nice!
The plane is a 3-3-3 configuration and we scored the two aisle seats (in row 4!) in the centre with what we hoped would be a vacant seat between us.  Not quite so lucky. A 5'2" sumo wrestler type buddy weighing in at 385lbs has the centre seat....The plane is not very full and the staff was quick to offer him a more comfortable  seating arrangement .

We have an uneventful 9 hour flight and find our way to our overnight stay at the Comfort Inn very near the airport.  We are (re) introduced to European bathrooms!  The triangle floor space is the whole shower stall....
