Santiago - Negreira (pop 2000) 21 km November 2

Yesterday after mass, lunch and a siesta...it was still raining...so we head out to sample tinto vino and people watch
At one point we notice quilts of rain
Which is about 4 times worse that sheets of rain ..enough already!

We find a spot for supper and settle on seafood palella ...Sid has a shrimp in his and I did find a clam in mine....

During the night I heard the rain many times...I spent about two hours worrying about the condition of the path after all of this rain...and darn good thing I did.

After breakfast of toast and jam we suit up again in rain gear
On the trail
Looking back to Santiago we see the cathedral partly enclosed by the hovering clouds
And soon overheat.  Even though it is raining the temp is 16 degrees and no wind
The water levels seem very high
More storage
We meet a pilgrim from Switzerland , he has walked 2100 km and has been on the trail for 3 months, the best 3 months of his life he tells us.  He was one of  three pilgrims we met enroute today....not including a few bikers
And more history

It really feels good to be walking again.  The blackberry supply is diminished, so I now move on to grapes.  We are no longer in vineyards but there are many vines providing shade and I think if the grapes fall on the side of the pilgrim they are fair game...and they are so very tasty.

We stop for coffe at Alto de Vento and somehow end up with toast and jam again even though we communicated with our best pointing and grunting to the tortilla...

We see kiwi growing on vines!

Some of our path...mostly we were on a quiet road so our feet only got just a little bit wet!
And more water
Enroute
And looking back
We get to Negreira and check into Pension la Mezquita (40 euros). And the best part ....one of the two English channels has a Bruce Lee Kung fu movie going on...
