Castrojeriz - Fromista (pop 800) October 11

We began this morning with a very steep climb right out of our village
You can see the uphill path ahead
It was a tough climb but we do feel that our legs are stronger.
Our view from the summit

And as always what goes up...must come down
And the path going down
I can see why this part of the trail is a mental issue....long walks admist grain land
This area produces cereal grains, wheat oats and barley, we did see a corn field today and even some irrigation
We cross the Rio Pisuerga
And continue forward .  My first music selection was Harry Chapin , who is a fine story teller & song writer.  Next I listen to Johnny Cash.....pretty hard to listen to Johnny and not think of Raymond ...the three of us had a fine walk through the farm land in Spain !
We follow the Canal de Castilla into Fromista
And walk across the canal locks
We check into the Hostal San Pedro ( 45 Euros)
It is so nice and clean and quiet here!
We walk about the town to the 11th century Iglesias de San Martin
We notice these trees in one of the squares , which I think are the something like we saw in China ( beech?) and they are all connected (grafted)  so that when they are in leaf they provide a beautiful canopy!
For supper we go to the restaurant next door and have salad/soup,deep fried cod and rice pudding for dessert - oh my it tastes good!
