O'Cebreiro - Triacastela 21.3 km October 24

We are leaving a bit later these days as the sunrise is now not until 8:30.  It is raining again this morning so we have breakfast in our village and hope the rain eases off.  At the only one restaurant that is open we see the Acadians, the Vancouver Korean couple, Jude and many others we have met.
This morning for breakfast we change things up and have a slice of a delicious almond cake.

It becomes apparent that the rain is not going to let up so we drag out all of our rain gear and get going.  The view is beautiful

But it is raining hard , even my camera lense gets fogged up!
We pass a shop were hand made walking sticks are offered for sale
For the most part our path is sure footed and reasonably flat for the first 15 k
We pass through this town
That doesn't really have a hospital...but it used to!

After two hours my shoes, socks and feet are so soaked ...water squishing between your toes soaked. My one  itty bitty blister has grown into a much bigger blister, it is now covered in a blister band aid, regular bandaid and held all together with duct tape.  It doesn't hurt and I'm happy about that.  Sids feet have no such issues.
Since there is no hope of keeping our feet dry we concentrate on how to keep them the least wet!
We have a break at 10 km in Fonfria and we each have another slice of cake!
Still very pretty
It looks like we are entering a tunnel through the trees.

The last 5k are a steep decent of about 600 meters.  Even though is is pouring the path is not too bad for footing.
We think these hills are used for grazing, but are not sure of that.

We arrive in Triacastela at 1:45 and find lodging with Olga, because that is such a Spanish sounding name...
Olga does have a very nice casa (40 Euros), we have our own room and bathroom , it is warm and immaculate .  I think Olga is an angel - she is washing and drying our clothes - in a machine!!
I race back to the super mercado hoping to buy a few groceries for lunch, the owner was just closing for siesta and refused to let me come in to buy a few things, nothing interferes with siesta!
Our shoes are drying on the heater.  The guide book says the province of Galicia has a weather pattern similar to Ireland...if today is any indication Ireland may be removed from my list of places to go!
The only time I recall being close to this wet was a golf tournament in Dayton Valley some years ago...

Today was an adventure, our worst weather day, but we are not discouraged.  We remain in good health and in great spirit!
