Torres del Rio - Navarette (pp 2200) 33.6km Oct 2

Oh my we had a long day!

We left Torres del Rio a bit late because it was pouring rain.  At 8:15 we set out after a very lame pilgrims breakfast.

We see quite a few altars at one spot

I entertain myself with shadows

We pass by shelters?

We stop at Viana for a coffee and groceries for lunch.  I have a potatoe and egg combo baked like a pie-it is very good
We walk through many vineyards and notice the immature vines

And then the gnarly vines (are olives the same?)

I feel I must thank my family and friends who this summer readily engaged  in training me in the skill of red wine drinking.  Well worth the effort!

Took time to smell the roses by the path, with this mornings raindrops still on the petals
Escargo?

We never  figured out what this patch of green was
More wind turbines

And more path
We are walking through the Rioja wine valley and at one point we see the sign for the Campo Viejo winery, a wine that our dear friend brings when visiting our home for supper!

We pass by some workers picking grapes , they are green ones ...

We enter the city of Logrono
It is beautiful and quite modern
We pass through a market
Logrono is 20 km into our walk and we think we will stay here.  We wanted to get throug the city before finding lodging.  Well we got through the city with no lodging and realized we were 13 km to the next stop.  The temp after this mornings rain is plus 29.  If you can imagine walking through a sauna that it how today felt.

Alas -onward!
It is a pretty walk even though I am sure I will collapse
At the summit we look back and see Logrono and a golf course!  Our first siting

Finally there ia a sign  of Navarette - What a relief.

I am quite proud of my self for not falling in to a puddle and admiting I could not go any further.

We check into a Hostal, very nice and it even has a real live washing machine.  At the moment my boyfriend is having a nap.  He earned it!
